Exercise Bikes
There are two basic types of exercise bikes; upright bikes and recumbent bikes. Upright bikes try to mimic the position of a road bike while recumbent bikes have a larger seat and an added pad for back support. Both styles are generally less expensive and take up less floor space than treadmills or ellipticals.
Exercise bikes are a non weight-bearing exercise so bikes are often used in orthopedic rehab situations. Exercise bikes have oftentimes been recommended for people suffering from obesity or heart complications because of their lower starting intensity level.
There are factors that should be considered before selecting a piece of exercise equipment. Some of these include; the number of users, amount of use, comfort of the unit, placement of the unit, and your budget.
