                                             Prepare to be amazed

We are often amazed by many of the items we receive on consignment

We received a call from a nice lady, who said she had some "junk" she wanted "to get rid of".  We explained that we don't really deal in junk, but she convinced us that it would be worth the trip to Green Hills to check it out.  Upon arrival at her home, she showed us her "junk".  Everything was pre civil war, top quality, and in mint condition.  Her "junk" included solid cherry and solid mahogany parlor furniture, two solid walnut bedroom suites with Italian marble, a huge banquet server, and more.  She explained that she had grown up on a plantation down south and the furniture had been in her family for several generations.  Upon selling the plantation,  she "gave her kids a couple of tractor-trailer loads of the best stuff" and moved to Belle Meade with the remainder.  Currently, she was down-sizing into a retirement condo and didn't "have room for all this stuff".  We made several trips to her home over the next few months as she continued to "try to get room to walk in here".  All of her items sold quickly and brought extremely good prices.  I'll always remember her as she has a fabulous personality, quick wit and is quite a character.

Another amazing consignor had worked for the government in the diplomatic service and had lived and traveled all over the world.  Her home was like a museum. She explained that she had one, and only one, item from each country she had visited.  She gave us a quick tour of her home and the entire world.   She has exquisite taste and everything was of the highest quality.  She consigned several items representing several countries. All brought excellent prices and sold quickly.

These are just two of the hundreds of great stories we have experienced over the years. We love to get items with great stories linked to them.

We are often amazed at how many items we receive on consignment that fall under the category of, how could someone part with this amazing piece?  I suppose we all get tired of seeing the same old things day in and day out and want a change.  That's what makes consignment shopping so much fun.  One person's junk is another person's new found treasure.

One more:
We went to a large home in Brentwood. The front door was opened immediately by a lady with a big grin on her face.  As she lead us down the hall and opened the door to a large room, she said that her husband died last week and she had waited 20 years for this.  "Take it all" she said laughing as we walked into a room with walls lined with big game trophies.  Several types of deer heads, elk, and more, over twenty in all, a true taxidermist dream.  We filled the back wall of our Bellevue store with them. Again these items sold quickly, brought great prices and she was a very happy lady.
